Fatal car accident claims life of Illinois resident

| Nov 7, 2013 | Uncategorized

Though many accidents in and around Chicago occur late in the evening or when travel conditions are less than optimal, some car accidents occur when circumstance appear reasonably calm.

A midday two-car collision west of the city took the life of a 23-year-old Hinckley woman and injured two others in another vehicle. Police believe that the head-on collision occurred when the deceased individual’s sedan crossed the center line of Route 38 in Virgil Township and crashed into a sport utility vehicle traveling in the opposite direction.

While the deceased was declared dead at the scene, the two injured victims were transported to area hospitals. One was airlifted to a hospital in Downers Grove while the other was rushed to a closer facility by ambulance. The conditions of the two injured people are not known.

Police are still investigating this accident to determine exactly why the fatal crash occurred. The results of their inquiry may yield more information on whether one of the driver’s was negligent in operating a vehicle or if some other conditions caused the accident. At this time no one involved with the accident has been arrested or cited for any driving infractions.

While the tragic death of the sedan driver is truly upsetting, the two victims still recovering from their injuries will likely endure a great deal of suffering for being involved in this ordeal. The medical expenses associated with their transports can be very high, as can be the emergency medical care they likely received when they arrived at the hospitals. Each will have to find financial resources to cover their costs, and like other accident victims these individuals may have rights to seek damages against the party that caused their harm.
