Chicago construction worker killed at airport

Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport is one of the busiest airports in the country. As the holiday season approaches it will keep getting busier as people hustle to visit with their families and loved ones. Travelers may notice construction crews performing maintenance work throughout the terminals to improve the airport’s systems and service to flyers.

While such improvements help keep people moving efficiently through the airport, all of the work performed by those construction crews can sometimes result in accidents. A 59-year-old construction worker recently suffered serious injuries at the airport when he fell approximately 35 feet. Though he was taken to a local hospital, he died from his injuries.

It is not known how the fall occurred but the worker was apparently an electrician working for a private employer and was performing work outside of terminal 5 at the airport. Other workers have stated that the victim had worked for his employer for more than ten years.

An investigation into this horrible accident may reveal if all safety measures were properly taken and if the man’s death could have been prevented. As demonstrated by this terrible event, construction injuries can be very serious and sometimes deadly, making such work threatening to those to undertake it.

The victim in this story was a father and now his family will have to endure the holidays without him. As details of his accident emerge, his family may find that it has rights to pursue legal claims against the victim’s employer and other possible individuals and organizations. With the help of a personal injury attorney, his family may be able to recover some of the damages it experienced in coping with his tragic loss.
