Sitcoms and other entertainment programs offer Chicago residents a brief respite from their stressful days. Often depicting humorous or otherwise entertaining scenarios, television shows can take away some of the worries of a busy schedule. Rarely do the events of the actors' lives impact the everyday thoughts of their fans.
When tragedy strikes, however, fans take a more active role in the well-being of their favorite entertainers. Tracy Morgan, a popular comedian and star of the television show "30 Rock" was recently involved in a serious automobile accident. The fatal accident claimed the life of another man traveling with Morgan and injured several others.
Morgan and several other comedians were traveling in a limo bus after a comedy show in Delaware when their vehicle was hit from behind by a Walmart big rig. The negligent driver of the semi failed to stop before hitting Morgan's limo and as a result many serious injuries and one death resulted. Several other vehicles were involved in the crash and the New Jersey Turnpike, the highway where the accident occurred, had to be temporarily closed.
While Morgan is recovering the family of the deceased comedian will begin the coping process of living life without a loved one. Even Morgan's family will struggle to keep up with his care and medical expenses as his treatment extends from days to weeks. Regardless of a person's financial status, medical damages from a car accident can be recoverable under the legal theory of negligence.
Fans of Tracy Morgan will hope for his full recovery as they lament the death of his fellow comedian. Motor vehicle accidents such as these are terribly tragic but when celebrities are involved they gain national attention. Whether a person injured in a car accident is famous or a regular Chicago resident, he is entitled to seek out his damages and to become whole in the wake of his serious injuries.
