Worker dies in Chicago area construction accident

People in Chicago like to shop and they generally enjoy watching new stores and restaurants pop up in their communities. When old buildings begin to be refurbished many people get excited to see what will occupy the formerly empty spaces. New businesses also often mean new work for area construction workers who often labor at the new retail sites to prepare them for customers.

A new restaurant will be opening where the old Ruby Tuesday stood in Vernon Hills but its opening will be marred by a recent tragedy. Three construction workers suffered injuries when concrete from an exterior wall at the site fell on them during a partial demolition.

Two of the workers sustained injuries that required hospitalization and they were taken to a medical facility in Libertyville. After arriving at the hospital one of the injured workers succumbed to his wounds and passed away while the other was treated for minor issues.

This construction accident shows the dangers associated with working in construction sites as well as the risks these hardworking men and women must contend with in order to make a living. The deceased victim of this incident was only 25-years-old at the time of his death and though his identity has not yet been made public it is likely that somewhere a family is grieving for his loss.

Throughout and after the holidays construction at this site will continue. Few people who dine at the new eating establishment will know that a young man perished while preparing the site for their enjoyment. In the wake of this tragedy, others who have been affected by construction accidents may consider working with personal injury attorneys to seek out the compensation they may be entitled to collect.
