More than a dozen people hurt in freeway car accident

Many people flock to Chicago to enjoy the city's culture and history. It is a haven for shoppers and foodies, a place for naturalists to commune with the outdoors and a gallery lover's paradise. Many event and conference planners consider Chicago to host their events due to the highly attractive opportunities their visitors can enjoy.

A group of visitors from out of state were recently involved in a serious car accident on the Kennedy Expressway. The group was traveling on the freeway in a van from their church when a second vehicle attempted to pass it. The passing vehicle struck the church van and two additional vehicles were involved in the car collision.

Local law enforcement initiated an EMS Plan 2, resulting in 10 ambulances responding to the car accident. Fourteen people traveling in the church van and the passing vehicle were taken to at least three different local hospitals and two of the injured people are believed to be in critical condition. No fatalities resulted from the accident.

Though none of the accident victims is believed to have suffered life threatening injuries, all who were taken to area medical centers for treatment will incur significant medical expenses related to their treatment. While individuals who survive serious car collisions often feel lucky to have made it through the ordeal with their health, they are often unaware of the many and significant costs that pile up after the crash. In addition to medical expenses, accident victims can incur costs associated with missing work, costs attached to insurance premiums and other expenses. Surviving a car accident can be a blessing, but coping with its aftermath can prove to be a curse for some victims.
